The place beyond the pines / 2012

Though this is not a pro-life film per se, the story includes a character who wants to stand by and support his child and the child's mother. Ryan Gosling plays Luke Glanton, a travelling motorcyclist who visits a town and meets Romina (played by Eva Mendes). He returns the following year and discovers that Romina had his baby son. He leaves the travelling circus and commits to staying around and being a father to his son. His love for his child is very poignant and refreshing in a world where the numbers of abandoned children are rising. Equally refreshing is the character of Cody, Romina's black boyfriend who takes on Luke's child, Jason, and loves him as his own.

Luke turns to crime to support his child and this had fateful consequences. The incident renders him targeted by policeman Avery (Golden Globe Award nominee Bradley Cooper), and the two men become locked on a tense collision course which will have a devastating impact on both of their families in the years following.
