Footballer thanks daughter for giving “the best 8 months” after she is given days to live

Ashley Cain, footballer and reality TV star, took to Instagram to thank his 8 month old daughter, Azaylia, for the best 8 months of his life.

At just 8 weeks old, Azaylia was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia. However, after undergoing months of treatment, Ashley posted a video on his Instagram page, informing his fans that Azaylia was given days to live, after they discovered the devastating news that nothing more can be done for her. Ashley explained how they decided to take her home to enjoy the rest of her days with her family.

"For the last part of her life I just want to take her home. See her like a baby and give her the best rest of her life ever," he said.

In light of Azaylia turning 8 months, Ashley took to Instagram to express his love for his little girl, and thanking her for giving him “the best 8 months” of his life.

"Yesterday Azaylia returned home from hospital like the fearless little lioness that she is.” He said.

"Today is her 8th month birthday! Happy 8 months baby! I honestly thought @therock was my hero until I spent the last 8 months with you."

Praising his brave little girl, he continued: "You taught me how to be strong when I needed strength, you taught me how to smile when I am feeling sad, you taught me how to cherish every single moment - as these moments are all we have.

"You’ve been tenacious, fearless, courageous, positive, happy and loving through times which I thought would make it impossible!

"You’ve given me the best 8 months of my life through the toughest of times. MY HERO. I LOVE YOU."
