Actress, Jennifer Lawrence, has opened up about becoming a mother and shared how her children have “changed my life for the best”.
Jennifer Lawrence, an actress best known for her main role in the Hunger Games franchise, has recently welcomed her second child with husband Cooke Maroney.
She is also a known advocate for abortion who believes women have a “right” to abortion and produced a documentary with Hilary and Chelsea Clinton on the “dangers” or pro-life laws. Back in 2021, she took part in the march for abortion in D.C. whilst she was pregnant with her first child.
Yet, after her first child was born in 2022, Lawrence said in an interview with Vogue:
“The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started over. Like, Now is day one of my life. I just stared. I was just so in love,” she told Vogue. “I also fell in love with all babies everywhere. Newborns are just so amazing. They’re these pink, swollen, fragile little survivors. Now I love all babies. Now I hear a baby crying in a restaurant and I’m like, Awwww, preciousssss.”
However, in the same interview, she still advocated for a “right” to an abortion and also revealed that she had first become pregnant whilst in her 20s where she had planned to get an abortion, but instead miscarried alone.
In a recent press briefing at Cannes Film Festival for her latest film, Lawrence was asked the question:
"Considering that ego is a big part of an actor’s career, and you’ve been in the spotlight for a long time, how did the birth of the children change your perspective on your career and about what is really important in life?”
Lawrence said in a moving response: “Having children changes everything. It changes your whole life. It’s brutal and incredible. Not only do they go into every decision of, if I’m working, where I’m working, when I’m working…they’ve taught me. … I didn’t know that I could feel so much."
Beautiful. Jennifer Lawrence encourages people to have kids and celebrates motherhood.
"Having children changes everything, it changes your whole life… for the best and they’ve changed me creatively. I highly recommend having kids if you want to be an actor."

“My job has a lot to do with emotion, and they’ve opened up the world to me," Lawrence continued. "It’s almost like feeling like a blister or something. So sensitive. So they’ve changed my life, obviously, for the best, and they’ve changed me creatively.”
She also added: “I highly recommend having kids if you want to be an actor."
Lila Rose from Live Action discussed these comments on her Podcast with Dr Aaron Kheriaty, where she described these comments as “beautiful” and “refreshing”, particularly in contrast to comments from actor Michelle Williams who recently “thanked” her abortion so that she could become an actor.
Both Rose and Dr Kheriaty agreed with Lawrence’s comments that becoming a parent changes your life for the better with father of five, Kheriaty also saying that fatherhood made him a “better doctor”.
"But I was especially edified to hear her [Lawrence] say this because the message to so many, and especially so many young women is: career first, children are going to get in the way... and she acknowledged, I do make career decisions now based on my children because they are actually more important to me than my next role,” he continued.
"I'd love to see more media headlines celebrating mothers who value their children," Rose added.
Sandra Parda of the Life Institute commented, saying: “These are beautiful comments coming from the heart of a mother that really show us that motherhood is something to cherish. Abortion advocates want women to believe that children are a hindrance, but this is not the case, they are a real blessing.”
“It is always interesting, though, when someone who is a known advocate for abortion, comes out with pro-child, pro-family statements after becoming a parent themselves, not seeing the blatant contradiction. We hope that Jennifer Lawrence sees the truth about the true value of motherhood and children, which starts in the womb.”
