The annual March for Life in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova, which took place last month, called for a pro-life future, urging pro-lifers to accomplish this by offering any kind of help to women during a crisis pregnancy.

With a theme of “the future is pro-life” March for Life in Romania and the Republic of Moldova took place on Saturday 25th March, and crowned the month as the “Month for Life 2023”, holding pro-life activities in 1,100 localities across the two countries. This made it the 13th annual March for Life in Romania, and the 9th March for Life in Moldova.

A charity concert was held at the March for Life that took place in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania, where pro-lifers got to hear testimonies from a range of speakers.

In a press release, March for Life Romania and the Republic of Moldova said that the March aimed “to raise awareness and engage participants and society in building a pro-life future – a future in which every pregnancy women in need will be supported to give birth to her children in which the life of every born and unborn child will be valued fully, regardless of age or health status, whether boy or girl”

“The “Month for Life 2023” included support actions for mothers and children, story-telling and pro-life sign-making workshops, Women’s Day flower-giving actions, conferences, workshops, pro-life youth debates, environmental activities, cross-country skiing, concerts, fundraising for women in crisis pregnancies, conferences, etc” they added.

“In more than 1,100 localities in Romania and Moldova, thousands of pro-life activities represent concrete steps towards a pro-life future. But not just in one day or one month, but throughout the year, any help in crisis pregnancy is a step towards a better, more life-giving future – a brick of love and support, laid at the foundation of a better world.”

“We will continue our support until every child lives in a world where they are met with care and love, not fear, hostility and violence. Our behaviour towards the most vulnerable and those most in need of care is the measure of our humanity and kindness, our dignity and our souls.”

March for Life Romania and Republic of Moldova offer a range of support to pregnancy women and their children, including establishing pregnancy support centres, training medical staff to provide non-medical support to women to ensure their needs are addressed, legalising and encouraging adoption, granting allowances, such as child-raising allowances and allowances to cover special needs, and developing programmes to prevent violence, abuse and sexual offences.

“An authentic pro-life future, present in the heart of every person, begins when we realise that every child is a gift to the world, which we are called to protect by supporting the mother who bears it,” they said.

An annual March for Life is a fantastic way to provide a public witness to the world that the pro-life movement is a movement that loves and cares for women and their babies, showing that we will do what we can to ensure they are supported in any way that they need. Romania and the Republic of Moldova are one of many countries that hold an annual March for Life. Ireland also holds an annual Rally for Life, which for this year is taking place on Saturday 1st July, where pro-lifers will be meeting at Parnell Square at 1pm.
