President Donald Trump has shared his support for the March for Life attended by tens of thousands of pro-lifers, where his Vice President JD Vance gave his first public speech as Vice President of the US.
March for Life held their annual pro-life march this past Friday 24th January in Washington DC, which was attended by tens of thousands. Each year, the march takes place towards the end of January to mark the anniversary of the Roe v Wade ruling on 22nd January 1973, that saw the legalisation of abortion in all 50 states in America.
In 2022, Roe v Wade was overturned, yet the pro-life community still gather every year to celebrate every single life from the moment of their conception. “We envision a world where every life is celebrated, valued, and protected,” March for Life state on their website.
The theme for this year’s march was “Life: why we march”, a theme the organisers “will encourage pro-life advocates to draw renewed energy” as the community face many challenges “by reflecting on the basic truth that inspires the pro-life cause: every human life – including the unborn and their mothers – is beautiful, has unique dignity, and worthy of protection.”
Newly-inaugurated President Donald Trump shared his support for the annual March for Life, in a video which he posted on X this past Friday.
“Thank you for turning out once again to show your extraordinary love and compassion for the unborn,” he said in his video.

“We will work to offer a loving hand to new mothers and young families, we will support adoption and foster care. We will protect women and vulnerable children,” he continued.
“"I know your hearts are warm and your spirits are strong because your mission is just, very, very pure: to forge a society that welcomes and protects every child as a beautiful gift from the hand of our Creator,” he added.
This comes after President Trump pardoned 23 pro-life activists who were arrested and prosecuted under the Biden administration for their pro-life activism.
“They should not have been prosecuted. Many of them are elderly people,” Trump said when signing the pardons in the Oval Office. “This is a great honour to sign this.”
The March for Life was also supported by Vice President, JD Vance, who gave his first public speech as Vice President at the march itself.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a joyful crowd out here, particularly during this time of year,” he addressed the crowd, drawing upon the efforts of the pro-lifers to attend, despite the freezing cold weather.
“We march to protect the unborn, we march to proclaim and live out the sacred truth that every single child is a miracle and a gift from God,” he continued.
“I want more babies in the United States of America. I want more happy children in our country and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them. And it is the task of our government to make it easier for young moms and dads to afford to have kids, to bring them into the world, and to welcome them as the blessings that we know they are.”
“It is a blessing to know the truth, and the truth is that unborn life is worthy of protection.”
Sandra Parda of the Life Institute commented saying: “Fantastic to see so many pro-lifers at the March for Life in Washington, and it is very good to see that they received support from the President and the Vice President. Country leaders need to stand up more to declare the value of human life in the womb and the importance of ensuring mothers and families are taken care of”.
The All Ireland Rally for Life will also be taking place this year on Saturday 5th July in Dublin City Centre. This serves as a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with the pro-life community, whilst also being a witness to life!
