Dr Alveda King is the niece of the civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr., and is now a full-time civil rights activist. She is a Christian minister, conservative commentator, civil rights activist, and author. She is the mother of six grown children and is a loving grandmother.
In the 1970s, Dr King had two abortions and attempted to get a third, but neither the father nor her grandfather would pay for it. She joined the pro-life movement years later, to reach out to women and offer them alternatives to abortion.
Dr King currently serves as a Pastoral Associate and Director of African-American Outreach for Priests for Life and Gospel of Life Ministries. She is also a voice for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, sharing her testimony of two abortions, God's forgiveness, and healing.
