A baby girl was born this week after she was saved from abortion after the support and help provided by 40 Days for Life during their campaign earlier this year.

Beginning in 2007, 40 Days for Life hold a bi-annual campaign every year, during Lent and during the Autumn period, which involve 24/7 vigils outside abortion clinics to pray for an end to abortion and to offer support to women contemplating abortion. Since the start of their campaign, 40 Days for Life  has grown across the world which has saved thousands of babies, as well as helping hundreds of abortion clinic workers leave their jobs and seen the closure of many abortion clinics.

This week, Shawn Carney, the campaign director and CEO of 40 Days for Life, shared the story of baby Elena who was born just this week after she was saved during their campaign in March earlier this year.

40 Days for Life were contacted by a Colombian participant named Maria as her friend in New Jersey was considering abortion. The campaign leader for 40 Days for Life in Montclair, New Jersey, Lisa, then found a Spanish speaking volunteer named Sol to help, who ended up being the neighbour of the women considering abortion.

“Thanks to Sol’s intervention, the expectant mother chose life…and Baby Elena was just born!” wrote Mr Carney.

“Both mom and baby are doing well. We are all overjoyed!” Maria wrote.

“The help that 40 Days for Live has offered brought new hope and new strength,” she continued. “Sol has been helping a lot. I am very grateful for the help and for this life that has been saved.”

“It goes to show: When you get involved in 40 Days for Life, you just never know how your efforts will pay off,” added Mr Carney.

Sandra Parda of the Life Institute commented saying: “what amazing news! Sometimes it’s hard to see how much our pro-life work has an impact on those around us, but it is stories like these that remind us that we really are doing lifesaving work and it is vital that we keep this up!”

Currently there is an ongoing 40 Days for Life campaign taking place from 25th September until 2nd November.  Visit 40 Days for Life on their website or Facebook page for more information, updates and stories from their ongoing campaign.
