Youth Defence have reminded Fianna Fáil that the party also made political promises not to legalise abortion in the last Election.
Spokeswoman Clare Molloy said that Fianna Fáil headquarters issued a statement saying that the party's position on abortion remains unchanged and they will maintain Ireland’s ban on abortion.
"Fianna Fáil states that it will uphold the right of the Irish people, and the Irish people alone, to decide on Ireland’s abortion laws. Fianna Fáil will oppose moves to legalise abortion in Ireland," the statement said.
"Now Fianna Fáil need to make good on their promise," said Ms Molloy. "if pro-life people see cross party support for this abortion measure, they will seek a new political alternative, to the detriment of both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael."
