Cavan Choose Life: “eliminating 3-day wait is morally reckless”
“Cavan Choose Life hosted a pro life stand on a recent Saturday at Cavan town square. They were publicising the sad fact that since abortion was legalised over 70,000 babies have had their lives terminated on the island of Ireland.
Regrettably this includes Cavan General hospital where innocent babies are losing their little lives every week.
However the good news is that HSE information confirms that over 10,000 women did not attend a second appointment for abortion.
Any attempt to eliminate the 3-day reflection period is a morally reckless capitulation to an extreme abortion ideology.
Our political representatives should be prioritising positive support for women in unplanned pregnancy, including access to practical assistance and counselling, rather than seeking to weaken existing protections. No woman should be rushed into a life-changing decision. Indeed according to the latest opinion poll over 55% of voters are in favour of retaining the 3 day waiting period.
Among the visitors to the stand were a group of Irish people on holidays from Australia, deacon Andy Brady, his wife Fionnuala, and Father Ultan McGoohan — the new Administrator for the Cavan Parish.”
