This past weekend saw the annual Super Bowl championship, one of the world's most watched sporting events. Toyota was one of the advertisers of this years Super Bowl, and their commercial presented a strong pro-life message.
The advert features swimmer Jessica Long, a double amputee and Paralympic Champion, during a voiceover of a phone conversation between an adoption agency and Long's adoptive mother.
“We found a baby girl for your adoption, but there's some things to need to know,” Mrs Long is told by the adoption agency.
“She was born with a rare condition. Her legs will need to be amputated”.
“I know this is difficult to hear. Her life, it won't be easy.”
After pausing briefly, Mrs Long responds to the adoption agency, with clear emotion in her voice:
“It might not be easy, but it will be amazing. I can't wait to meet her.”
At this point, Long is depicted watching her mother concluding this conversation. Upon hearing her words of love and hope, she smiles.
Toyota concludes their commercial with the statement “We believe there is hope and strength in all of us”.
This advert sends a powerful pro-life message to people, that no matter what our state in life is, no matter how limited we may or may not be, we all have something to give and we all have something we can achieve. Toyota's message is a message of hope for all of us.
