Jesse Ridgway, a famous YouTuber who goes by the name “McJuggerNuggets” online, has received massive backlash this week after posting on social media platform X about how he and his wife made the “difficult decision” to have their unborn child killed in the womb. Their reasoning, the YouTuber claims, is because the child was diagnosed in-utero with Trisomy 21, a chromosomal abnormality leading to the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21, commonly presenting as Down syndrome.
Ridgway, speaking on behalf of his wife and himself, described the decision to end their child’s life as “impossible”, and assured his followers that it was “not made lightly”. The outcome, of course, is the same no matter the excuse: their child is dead at their request.
The post on X, racking up over 18 million views, received considerable backlash. Notably, people are pointing to the fact that Ridgway had all the compassion and time in the world for his dog with stage 4 kidney disease, but not his own unborn child.

One user wrote “Wait… he gave his dog a second chance to live… but not his own child???? How did we get here as a people???”

Among the thousands of replies was Sean Davis, CEO and co-founder of The Federalist, who wrote: “You didn’t “lose” your baby. You killed your baby. The baby here is the victim. You are not the victim.”

One X user shared their own lived experience knowing and loving somebody with a Down syndrome diagnosis: “My 2 year old granddaughter is DS. She’s the sweetest, happiest child in the world … Sad you will never experience this.”

Another X user, Andrew Daub, shared a heartfelt message concerning his son with Down syndrome.

As we know, in Iceland, almost all those babies diagnosed with Down syndrome in the womb via prenatal testing are aborted. In England and Wales, roughly 90% of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted. In Ireland, there have been attempts by pro-abortion politicians and parties to expand on the grounds for late-term abortions, including calls by some to scrap all regulations and safeguards in order to allow for abortions at any stage of pregnancy, for any reason. There have been no calls whatsoever to protect babies from the blatant, deadly discrimination of abortion in the case of a trisomy 21 diagnosis.
Since sharing the original news, Ridgway has replied to his initial post defending himself and calling out the people who are openly disgusted with the utterly depraved actions of him and his wife.
“I’ve never seen such hate and vitriol for two people grieving the loss of their unborn child and making an impossible decision.”, the YouTuber wrote.
“Grieving the loss of their unborn child”. It’s hard to believe those are the words he chose. As hard as this must be, having hundreds of thousands of people rightfully condemning the morally repugnant decision they made, it absolutely needs to be done. They will have to live with the outcome of this for the rest of their lives. Every time they see a child who would be roughly the age of their own, had he or she lived, they will know. Every time they see a sweetheart like the little girl pictured above, thriving and loving their precious life, they will know. Even if they conceive another child, and carry that baby to term, they will know. Their first born was killed at their own request.
These “choices” and those who support it need to be utterly condemned at every single turn. Those who genuinely grieve their aborted baby, with actual regret for their role to play in their death, deserve compassion and forgiveness. All abortion is wrong. However, people may sooner come to realise the utter depravity and wickedness of abortion in general if we emphasise the blatant injustice in obvious cases such as these. The seed of truth will be planted.
God rest Ridgway’s unborn child.
